Make a Day of it!
One of the many advantages of staying at the Harborview Inn & RV Park is being able to use it
as a base for exploring all the wonderful things there are to do & see in this part of the
We’ve outlined several day trips that will showcase our section of the Oregon Coast and
take you places you may have never been, as well as exposing you to the many
fabulous places there are to eat around these parts.
Click on the title of any of the trips below for more information
1-The Tidepool Trail – There is an abundance of tidepools along the North Coast, some just minutes away from Harborview that offer GREAT tidepool discovery. Check the tide tables available in the office for low tides with maximum viewing.
These areas are critical habitat for a wide variety of marine species, from encrusting corals and sponges to invertebrates, fish, and marine mammals and seabirds.
Young and old alike will love this opportunity to explore the sights of the tidepools, enjoy some of our gorgeous coastal scenery, and hit a few of our favorite stops on the Tidepool Trail.
Either way, some of the greatest finds are waiting to be revealed along this stretch of Hwy 101, from amazing displays of Art Deco to turn-of-the-century furniture.
Even if you don’t feel like buying, just browsing can be a fun and exciting journey!
3 – Take a Hike! – Some of the most beautiful scenery on the Oregon Coast is only a short walk away. First, climb a mountain and look down on a view only a hiker can get.
Next, talk a walk along what appears to be a very private beach, then walk back through a forest that appears on the Audobon Society’s list of Top Ten Birding Walks in the US.
And along the way, treat yourself to a some fantastic pepper bacon, a cinnamon-cardamom roll, and some Rockfish tacos!
4- Sea Harvest – The bounty of the Bay awaits you as we gather in some of the most delicious creatures in the universe!
First, we’ll go right off the Harborview property to collect some Dungeness Crab, the BEST-tasting crab (and I’ve tried them all). We have everything you’ll need to catch, cook & eat them all within 100 yds of your room or RV space.
Or you can also collect your limit of cockles, the heart-shaped clams that thrive in the shallow water just off the RV Park.
Then, we’ll take a scenic drive around the Bay to the Southern tip to catch some rainbow trout, called by many Oregon’s top game fish. Throw a line out from the bank and see what you can reel in.
Stocked 4 times a year by the ODFW, this is a serious chance to get your limit of 5 fish over 8 inches in just a few hours.
5 – Kayak it! – Whether gliding over a still lake or braving the currents of Tillamook Bay, Kayak Tillamook offers the ultimate in guided tours of our many waterways. Bring your own kayak or jump in one of those supplied by the company.
Contact them at 503-866-4808 or book your tour online at kayaktillamook.com.
We’ll tell you where to get breakfast, lunch, and
dinner as well as guiding you through our local museums
before or after your kayaking tour.
